Reelcities Launches Revolution in Stock Footage Industry Andrea
Keating, founder of Reelcities, brings new age entrepreneurship
to age old status quo.
SILVER SPRING, MD – Real footage, real fast -that’s
Reelcities, the television, film and video industry’s
newest answer to high quality stock footage at reasonable prices
with a quick turnaround. Available on-line (www.reelcities.com)
beginning February, 2003, Reelcities is the brainchild of entrepreneur,
Andrea Keating.
Just as she innovated film and video crewing in the 80’s
and 90’s as founder of Crews Control, Ms. Keating launches
this new video and film venture with her distinctive signature
of originality and customer service.
“Reelcities is royalty-free, production-ready stock
footage of major U.S. cities, that you can use the day after
you order it,” said Ms. Keating. “In working with
producers through Crews Control, I discovered that many of
them were frustrated with the current industry standard in
acquiring stock footage. I knew there had to be an easier way.”
Today stock footage is primarily sold by the individual shot
or in time increments measured in seconds. In addition, many
stock footage houses put limitations on how many times the
buyer can use the shot. With Reelcities, the one time fee of
$495.00 (plus shipping and handling) entitles the purchaser
to quality, city-specific imagery – including key landmarks
and a flavor of each city - with no limitations on frequency
of use. Ms. Keating tapped the high-quality expertise of her
Crews Control crews around the country to develop the type
of stock footage that producers need.
“Reelcities stock footage is shot on tape,” said
Ms. Keating. “This means that producers are able to seamlessly
cut Reelcites stock footage into their productions and maintain
the integrity of the overall product without obvious differences
in the quality of the footage.
Most often provided on film format, stock footage can create
a noticeable difference between it and the footage in the rest
of the production. Reelcities strives to provide seamless quality
for the producer.
Reelcities offers footage of the following cities:
Atlanta
Baltimore
Charlotte
Dallas
Houston
Las Vegas
Los Angeles
Miami |
Nashville
Orlando
Phoenix
San Diego
San Francisco
Seattle
St. Louis
Washington D.C |
Andrea Keating is a 20-year veteran of the video and film
industry, but her desire to find solutions to the problems
of her clients is what fuels her passion as an entrepreneur.
“I am strong believer in niche businesses. I like to
think I create common sense companies,” said Ms. Keating. “With
Reelcities, I saw a need for a logical, cost-effective resource
for geographical stock footage. Crews Control provides the
best video and film crews worldwide and serves its clients
by providing a single resource for a very fragmented industry."
The Reelcities website is easy to navigate and offers secure
on-line ordering. A dropdown menu allows you to choose a city,
review a demo, view a shot list, and order. Your footage is
shipped on Betacam SP or Digital Betacam, for next day delivery.
Reelcities plans on adding international cities to its menu
this spring. Custom footage is still available through Crews
Control with easy links from the Reelcities website.
“Reelcities is a revolutionary concept in stock footage
that will help producers, tourism and convention bureaus and
communicators get what they need – and fast,” said
Ms. Keating.
Andrea Keating launched Crews Control in 1988 and Remote Control,
which provides satellite and mobile production services ten
years later. Her professional repertoire includes a background
in on-location and in-studio production at two major television
affiliates in Washington, D.C. She is a member of YEO (Young
Entrepreneurs Organization) and a graduate of the MIT/YEO/Inc.
Magazine’s “Birthing of Giants” program.
Reelcities is her third entrepreneurial venture of finding
smart solutions to common sense problems.
